Ibn Khaldûn a vécu au XIVe siècle. Il est aujourd'hui l'historien musulman le plus célèbre en Occident, mais - le paradoxe n'est qu'apparent - il reste mal connu. Une chose est sûre : penseur d'une envergure exceptionnelle, il transcende son époque, de sorte que Le Livre des Exemples est un livre pour notre temps. Ibn Khaldûn a une conscience aiguë du destin universel, du passé du monde, de ses tendances profondes.
Et il est l'inventeur d'une « science nouvelle », une « science de la société humaine » qui préfigure les sciences sociales modernes, anthropologie et sociologie. L'Autobiographie retrace son parcours en un récit extraordinairement vivant. Et la Muqaddima (« Introduction ») se lit comme une préface théorique à l'histoire universelle que propose Le Livre des Exemples. Le XIXe siècle a redécouvert Ibn Khaldûn.
Le XXe siècle a donné un large écho à son modèle d'analyse de la société arabe, et a adopté une grande partie de ses concepts sociaux et politiques. Qui voudra, au XXIe siècle, comprendre l'Islam, ne pourra plus l'appréhender de façon isolée, en exagérant de ce fait son altérité et son étrangeté ; il devra prendre en compte les liens que cette civilisation entretient avec les processus globaux de l'histoire universelle : il devra passer par Ibn Khaldûn.

Convaincu de l'existence d'un livre, aujourd'hui disparu, à l'origine des textes sumériens détenant les réponses à ces questions, l'auteur a recherché dans des sources de première main les preuves venant confirmer son hypothèse. Puis il a reformulé dans cet ouvrage les récits qu'il a découverts pour en faire les mémoires d'Enki, l'éclaireur de ces premiers "astronautes".
A travers le très élaboré récit autobiographique du seigneur Enki, un dieu anunnaki, nous découvrons la version humaine de notre création par les Anunnakis. Ce récit relate la colonisation de la Terre par ces extraterrestres venus de Nibiru, la 12e planète. Le but de cette colonisation : l'or, qui aurait permis aux Anunnakis de régénérer l'atmosphère mourante de leur planète d'origine. La découverte du précieux métal conduira à la création par ces mêmes Anunnakis de l'Homo sapiens, la race humaine, destinée à travailler à son extraction.
